Arbutus menziesii
Beautiful tree with smooth, reddish-brown branches. Can reach up top 130ft but typically grows to be about half that size. Each summer the upper red-brown bark peels away revealing a greenish-yellow bark that ripens to a deep red color. Madroño or “strawberry tree”, for its berries thrives in full sunlight.
