Resources for Educators
AmeriCorps Environmental EducatorsMCD is proud to be a host site for AmeriCorps members looking to serve our community as an Environmental Educator. Throughout their service year, our AmeriCorps members support the community by going into classrooms, hosting school planting and invasive species removal events, coordinating field trips, and helping to coordinate community workshops and volunteer events.

MCD Environmental Education Programs
The mission of the Mason Conservation District is to promote the sustainable use, conservation and restoration of natural resources in our community for future generations. The district puts a high priority on youth education to prepare our next generation of conservationists and works with multiple partners to develop field experiences that teach students about local natural resources topics while aligning with state educational standards. Though we stay involved with students during their high school years either through Envirothon or the Shelton High School CTE programs, our primary focus in the spring months is to deliver in-class lessons and organize field trip experiences for K-8 students in Shelton, Pioneer, and Hood Canal School Districts.
Envirothon
MCD coordinates with Shelton School District High Schools to provide natural resource education to students participating in Envirothon, an environmental and natural resource conservation problem-solving, teambuilding and leadership experience for high school students.
