Evergreen Huckleberry – Vaccinium ovatum
6 to 8 feet tall. Ornamental shrub with pink, bell-shaped flowers and blue edible berries. Has excellent soil binding, erosion control capabilities. Most common in semi-open woods, in soils high in organic matter. |
Low Oregon Grape - Mahonia nervosa
2 - 3 feet tall. Slow spreading evergreen shrub with dark green holly-like leaves, yellow flowers and edible berries. Prefers part shade and sun in well-drained soils |
Oceanspray - Holodiscus discolor
10 feet tall. Oceanspray is an upright, multi-stemmed deciduous shrub. Oceanspray is a remarkably adaptable species. It is particularly well suited to rocky, dry slopes. Its dense, matting root system is excellent for soil stabilization. Birds feed upon the seeds, which can persist into winter. The masses of cream colored flower clusters are attractive in spring. |

Tall Oregon Grape - Mahania aquifolium
3 to 15 feet. Oregon Grape is adapted to grow in a wide range of conditions from dry to moist, and sites that vary from exposed to shady. It is favored for its bright yellow flower clusters in spring, the dark purple berries in late summer, and the reddish green leaf color in fall and winter. |
