Shore Friendly Mason Webinar
Learn more about our local marine shorelines, and ways Mason Conservation District can assist you in managing your property from our recent webinar.
This webinar (originally presented live on July 18, 2020) introduces our Shore Friendly program and the resources we provide, including free, non-regulatory technical assistance. We also explore our marine shorelines and the processes that shape them, highlight some of our favorite coastal native plants, discuss common shoreline resource concerns such as coastal erosion and drainage and best practices to help address them, review bulkhead alternatives, and touch on potential impacts of climate change for your marine waterfront. Presented by Mason Conservation District’s Shore Friendly Program, featuring Steve Hagerty, Shore Friendly Program Coordinator, and Katrinka Hibler, District Engineer.
If you are further interested in our services, our Shore Friendly program also offers free and confidential technical assistance. We offer counsel and resources to assist with management of resource concerns such as erosion and drainage, bulkhead alternatives, native plant landscaping and habitat management, and more.

Shore Friendly Webinar 2020
Your Shoreline. Your Legacy.
Webinar Slides:
*Note: as of 7/21/20, please observe two small corrections on updated slides since the webinar was presented. Slide 63 now clarifies “residential parcels” as opposed to all parcels, based on the Parcel Segmentation report cited at the bottom of the slide. Slide 64 corrects the proper source of the more recent information on Mason County shoreline armor, direct from an inquiry via Doris Small, Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife. Polls were conducted live and results are not visible in recordings. While some questions were captured in the recording, most were discussed in separate, unrecorded Q&A sessions after each section.
