Low Growing Plants & Groundcovers

Bleeding Heart - Dicentra formosa

Perennial growing from rhizomes to a delicate long stem. Fern like with Pinkish purple heart-shaped drooping flowers. Flowers from March to July.

Coastal Strawberry - Fragaria chiloensis

Ground Cover. This perennial has shiny, dark-green leaves that spread from horizontal runners. It has large white flowers followed by edible berries.

Creeping Dogwood - Cornus canadinsis

6” tall. Spreading ground cover perennial. Striking white dogwood flowers bloom in spring followed by scarlet berries in late summer.

Kinnikinnick - Arctostaphylos uva-ursi

Ground Cover. Evergreen leaves with pinkish flowers and bright red fall berries. Grows in sandy soil in filtered shade to full sun.

Sea Thrift - Armeria maritime

6 inches to 1 foot tall. Groundcover that forms grassy mounds from 2 to 5 inches high, with rounded flowerheads on stems that range from 6 to 12 inches tall. Grows in full sun in dry, well-drained soils.
