Grows 10 to 20 in tall. Perennial growing from rhizomes to a delicate long stem. Fern like with Pinkish purple heart-shaped drooping flowers. Flowers from March to July.
Tufted Hairgrass - Deschampsia cespitosa
Grows in neatly rounded dense bunches with hair-like flowers rising 2-3 feet. The grass grows in green and turns a beautiful gold late in the season. Does well in shade, or moist full sun areas. It is a larval food for several butterflies.
Red Flowering Currant - Ribes sanguineum (Miniplug)
Grows between 3 to 10 feet tall. Attracts hummingbirds to its pale pink to deep red flowers blooming from March through June. Grows in clearings and open forest areas that remain dry.Â
Thin-Leaf Huckleberry - Vaccinium membranaceum
Grows to 1-4 feet tall. Prized for its flavorful edible berries, this plant does well in areas with little competition. Ideal for rock gardens or on a slope with plenty of organic matter. Blooms Late spring to June, fruit ripens Mid-summer to late August.
Eastern Purple Cone Flower - Echinacea purpurea
This perennial features beautiful long-lasting lavender-colored flowers that grow to be 2-4 ft tall. Bloom from April to September and attract butterflies and hummingbirds.
